Cobb Food Scores: Auntie Anne's, Vanilla Cafe, Thumbs Up Diner

COBB COUNTY, GA — Searching for a place to grab some grub? Take a look at the latest scores for Cobb restaurants and food-service operations inspected by the state health department in the last week.

Of the 91 Cobb County eateries inspected since March 10 — the last time Patch posted a restaurant roundup for the area — a total of 75 restaurants received grades of A, 15 received grades of B and one received a C: Thumbs Up Diner in Austell. None received a grade of U for "unacceptable."

Thumbs Up Diner was cited for several violations, including for an employee removing dirty dishes from a table, not washing their hands and then making a customer's drink; for serving swai as catfish; and for not storing food at the proper temperatures.

Each item on an inspection form has a point value ranging from 1 to 9 points, with violations deducting points from the best possible score of 100. Higher points are taken for items with higher risk to cause illness, while repeat violations take even more points.

Letter grades assigned are A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70 and U for less than 70.
