COBB COUNTY, GA β€” Cobb County Animal Services will be closed until further notice, shelter officials announced Friday. The announcement came just four days after the shelter implemented a lowered adoption rate through the end of February.

The shelter's veterinarian discovered an illness in the shelter population, per a press release. The vet sent tests to the University of Georgia to identify the problem.

All adoptions, visitations and nonemergency surgeries are on hold. No other details were released, but Patch has reached out to Cobb County Animal Services for additional information.
