Written Threat At Marietta School Prompts Police Probe

MARIETTA — A written threat at Marietta Sixth Grade Academy prompted a police investigation Friday, according to school officials.

In a letter to parents, Principal Keynun Campbell said a student reported the threat found around 1:30 p.m. on a bathroom wall. It is unknown what was written in the threat.

While it was not directed toward a particular student, Campbell said it referenced harming an unidentified staff member. The threat did not indicate a school shooting or weapon.

"We believe multiple students saw the threat and that it may be a topic of conversation among students," Campbell said. "For this reason, we wanted to make our families aware."

Campbell said the school is investigating the matter alongside the Marietta Police Department. Additional supervision will be on campus this afternoon.
