Atlanta's Soccer In The Streets Awarded $24K Grant

The youth-sports organization Soccer In The Streets was recently awarded $24,000 by the U.S. Soccer Foundation.

ATLANTA, GA -- Soccer in the Streets recently was awarded a $24,000 grant from the U.S. Soccer Foundation to further its commitment to bring the joy of team sports and empowerment to the city's underprivileged youths, the group said.

The U.S. Soccer Foundation's core mission is to foster sports-based youth development programs in underserved communities. The grant to Atlanta's Soccer in the Streets will fund the group's Station Soccer Club Program, an initiative to bring one of the greatest games in the world to mass transit systems. The Station Soccer has already been implemented at one MARTA station with more to go.

"Our Station Soccer Club Program is a new way to bring communities together from around the city through transit," Soccer in the Streets' Executive Director, Phil Hill said in a news release. "We are grateful to the U.S. Soccer Foundation for backing this unique vision."
