Dr. Patricia Thompson named to the Georgia Leadership Board of the American Lung Association of the Southeast, Inc.

Dr. Patricia Thompson, a medical oncologist at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Southeastern Regional Medical Center (Southeastern) has been named to the Georgia Leadership Board of the American Lung Association of the Southeast, Inc.  In this capacity, Thompson will assist in establishing the strategic direction of the organization and ensuring accountability.

The American Lung Association of the Southeast, Inc., serving Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina, was founded in 1916 to fight tuberculosis.  Today, the American Lung Association in Georgia is the leading organization in the state working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.

Dr. Thompson received her medical degree from the University of Miami and completed her fellowship in hematology and oncology at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute at the University of South Florida in Tampa. While completing her residency in internal medicine at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, she was awarded the Foundation Merit Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Thompson is board certified in internal medicine, with a subspecialty in medical oncology, by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
