Georgia Weather Forecast: Clear, Then Stormy, This Weekend

If you're heading out and about Friday in metro Atlanta, you may be in the clear. After that? Well, you know summertime weather in Georgia.

ATLANTA, GA — First, the good news. If you've got plans for Friday night, there's a pretty decent chance you'll have clear skies while you're out and about in metro Atlanta?

After that? The weather forecast gets a little dicier.

While the National Weather Service says there's a chance for isolated to scattered thunderstorms on Friday and Friday night in north Georgia, the chance for rain in metro Atlanta is only 10 percent — a likely break from the usual stormy afternoons and evenings we get this time of year.

The rest of the weekend, though, will be back on form. At about 10 a.m. Saturday, the chance for showers and thunderstorms pops back up to 50 percent continuing into Saturday night and the early-morning hours on Sunday.

Then, there's a 40 percent chance of rain both Sunday and Sunday night.

Meanwhile, temperatures will be warm, but not brutal by Georgia-in-July standards. We're looking at a high of 88 on Friday in metro Atlanta, 89 on Saturday and 88 again on Sunday. Lows each night will be dropping down into the lower-70s.

Friday: A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. East wind 5-10 m.p.h. Friday night, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 p.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. Southeast wind around 5 m.p.h. becoming south after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 10 percent.

Saturday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. West wind 5-10 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 15 m.p.h. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms again Saturday night. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. West wind 5-10 m.p.h.

Sunday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. West wind 5-10 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 15 m.p.h. Sunday night, a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71.
