Georgia Weather Forecast: More Storms, 'Brief Tornado' Possible

Flooding after Sunday's storms is still a threat Monday, and new storm systems in metro Atlanta could even mean a tornado this week.

ATLANTA, GA — The storms that rocked through much of metro Atlanta on Sunday aren't done yet, weather experts say. A flood watch has been extended for parts of north and central Georgia until 8 p.m. Monday.

And "several other disturbances" — with the possibility of tornadoes — could mean we're in for a stormy rest of the week, too.

There's a chance of rain every single day this work-week in metro Atlanta. And, on Monday and Thursday, those rains could come in the form of thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service issued a hazardous weather outlook Monday morning for much of north and central Georgia, warning that soggy ground after Sunday's storms, combined with new rainfall, could bring flooding in some areas. Isolated and severe thunderstorms again were possible on Monday, especially in the eastern part of Georgia, the NWS said. The main threats are hail and damaging winds, with "a brief tornado or two" possible.

Tuesday through the weekend, more storm fronts will be pushing through Georgia. The first is set for Friday and the second either late Friday or early Saturday, the weather service said.

"There is still uncertainty on timing and strength of these systems so please monitor future updates," the outlook said.

April showers, indeed, folks. Stay dry out there.
