Traveling Exhibit Celebrates 50 Years Of AJC Peachtree Road Race

One of the nation's signature July 4 events is in Atlanta, and this year is the 50th running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race.

ATLANTA -- A traveling exhibit now on display celebrates the upcoming 50th running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race. "50 Years of the Peachtree" is being sponsored by PNC Bank. According to the Atlanta Track Club, the exhibit highlights the history, people and legacy of the AJC Peachtree Road Race over the course of the past five decades.

The 20-foot long by 20-foot wide museum-quality display features highlights from every running of the iconic July 4 Atlanta event, one of the nation's signature July 4 traditions and the world's largest 10K. It includes memorable finisher's shirts and memorabilia including the first winner's trophy and the original finish line tape.

There is also an eight-foot tall representation of the 50th AJC Peachtree Road Race logo.

From now through June 22, the exhibit is on display at the Atlanta History Center in Buckhead. From June 23 through July 1, it moves to the Georgia World Congress Center, and then to the 1Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo from July 1-2.
