On Saturday, April 25, more than 400 Comcast NBCUniversal employees, their families, friends and community partners worked together to improve Atlanta’s Vine City neighborhood as part of the 14th annual Comcast Cares Day, the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer effort in the country.

Georgia’s Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle and Comcast President and Chief Executive Officer Neil Smit kicked-off the project at the Higher Ground Empowerment Center, along with over a dozen local community partners. An entire list of partner organizations can be found at www.comcastinthecommunity.com.

Volunteers completed various beautification projects including landscaping, general clean-up, building a handicap-accessible ramp, installing fencing, updating a soccer field, and creating recreational areas for children around the Vine City community. In addition, the Comcast Foundation provided grants totaling $30,000 to local community partner organizations on behalf of everyone who volunteered on Comcast Cares Day. The 2015 Vine City project grant recipients included the Oasis of Vine City, Sisters Action Team, Inc., the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta and TryCope Inc.

“On behalf of the State of Georgia, I’d like to thank Comcast’s dedicated employees and volunteers for their extraordinary efforts to revitalize the Vine City community for the 2015 Comcast Cares Day,” said Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle. “This project and the other 2015 Comcast Cares Day projects across the state are excellent examples of Comcast’s long-standing commitment in the community and their support of those who need it most.”

More than 4,000 Comcast Cares Day volunteers made change happen at 46 projects across Georgia for the 14th annual Comcast Cares Day.
