Here are the top three stories in Smyrna-Vinings today:

  1. Cobb County is inviting high school students in grades 9-11 to apply for the 2023-24 Cobb County Youth Commission, offering them a chance to gain insights into local government and participate in civic affairs. The program offers civic engagement and leadership skills, giving students an opportunity to design service projects, interact with community leaders, and visit the state capitol. To apply students should submit an application and provide letters of recommendation by 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 27.   2. The Smyrna Public Library is offering a convenient way for residents to participate in community cleanups. Residents can now take walks and clean up their community using the Keep Smyrna Beautiful Community Cleanup kit available at the library.   3. A crime investigation is underway at Motel 6 on Delk Road in Cobb County. The Marietta Police Department reported that on Thursday night, a man was stabbed around 11:15 p.m. in a room at the motel. The incident occurred between two men sharing the room, resulting in one man stabbing the other. The suspect has been arrested, and the victim is in the hospital with a non-life-threatening wound.
