Cumberland Mall Kroger Project Scuttled

Sears, whom Kroger was expecting to rent from at the mall, has decided to rent its upstairs floor to another company, a report says.

SMYRNA-VININGS, GA -- Kroger has announced it is no longer pursuing plans to build a grocery store on the top floor of the Sears building at Cumberland Mall, according to a report.

A Kroger spokesperson tells the Marietta Daily Journal that Sears has decided to rent the 88,000 sq. ft. space to Seritage Growth Properties instead, effectively killing the deal.

Apart from the store itself, the project would have also seen Kroger build a fueling station in the parking lot of the Sears building.
