🌱 North Georgia State Fair + 31 Cats Found Dead In Cobb Co. Home

Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

1. The 2023 North Georgia State Fair is currently taking place at Cobb's Jim R. Miller Park and will continue until Oct. 1. To stay informed about event schedules and details, visitors are encouraged to check the fair's website. The Cobb County Sheriff's Office has collaborated with fair officials to address traffic congestion issues from the previous year. It's suggested to enter the fairgrounds through County Services Parkway and avoid using Callaway Road. This change in traffic routing is designed to prevent long lines. (Cobb County, GA)
2. A welfare check at a home in Cobb County led to a gruesome discovery as an animal cruelty investigator found 31 dead cats inside. Police were alerted by a strong odor coming from the residence, and upon entering, they encountered gruesome living conditions and multiple deceased animals throughout the house. The investigators are now working to locate the owner and are considering felony animal cruelty charges for each animal. (WSB-TV)
3. The Smyrna Handmade Market will take over at the Market Village on Sunday, Sep. 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This event will feature more than 50 vendors offering a diverse range of items for shoppers to explore and choose from. (City of Smyrna, GA Government via Facebook)
