  2. Over the weekend, Keep Smyrna Beautiful collaborated with Cobb County Water System and Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area to organize a cleanup effort. Nearly 50 volunteers participated and successfully removed over 2,100 pounds of litter from trails, stream beds, and waterways. The cleanup included the removal of various types of trash, notably plastic, and foam, which will no longer pose a threat to local waterways and wildlife. (Keep Smyrna Beautiful via Facebook)
  3. The Cobb County Sheriff's Office has officially introduced K-9 Charlie, an 11-month-old female bloodhound, as their newest addition to the team. Deputy Lucas-Dykstra will be partnering with K-9 Charlie, who has received training in urban and rural tracking as well as gun detection from the Georgia K-9 National Training Center in Canton. K-9 Charlie is taking over the role previously held by the late K-9 Athos, and her training, along with Deputy LD's experience, is expected to make for a successful partnership.
