Tractor Trailer Fire Cleared, I-85 Lanes Reopened

UPDATE: GDOT reports that the road has been cleared and lanes are reopened.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA -- Firefighters are currently working to extinguish a fully involved box truck on I-85 S/B, south of Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road in unincorporated Suwanee. All southbound lanes of the interstate are closed at this time due to the fire. There are no injuries reported.

The driver advised crews that the truck was empty of contents and was not carrying a load. The cause of the fire is undetermined. Traffic will be impacted until the fire is completely extinguished. Motorists are urged to be patient and to seek alternate routes until lanes are completely reopened. PD is assisting with a traffic control plan during the evening rush.
