2 Cats Killed, Firefighter Injured In Cherokee Co. Blaze

While responding to a Cherokee Co. townhouse fire, crews tried resuscitating two cats found in the home but were unsuccessful.

WOODSTOCK, GA — A firefighter is in stable condition after being injured Wednesday while responding to a Tiller Way home fire that killed two cats, fire officials said.

Crews arrived around 10:45 a.m. to respond to a townhouse fire at Tiller, where they found smoke coming from multiple floors and the attic, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services said.

During a search and rescue, two cats were found inside the home, fire officials said. Firefighters tried resuscitating the cats, but fire officials said both cats died of their injuries.

While no civilians were injured in the fire, a firefighter suffered an injury and was taken to a hospital in stable condition, fire officials said. The firefighter's injury was not life threatening.

Crews worked shortly after 12:30 p.m. to salvage belongings and tend to on-scene cooling hot spots, fire officials said.
