1 Killed In Lake Barrington Crash

The three-vehicle crash happened Tuesday afternoon in the area of Route 59 and Miller Road.

LAKE BARRINGTON, IL — A Schaumburg woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Lake Barrington Tuesday afternoon.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to the collision, which happened in the area of Route 59 and Miller Road at about 4:15 p.m., according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say a Hyundai sedan headed north on Route 59 veered into the southbound lanes of traffic and collided with the rear of the semi-trailer of a 2016 Freightliner semi-truck, which was driven by a 62-year-old Hawthorn Woods man.

The Hyundai then hit a southbound Lincoln sports utility vehicle, which was driven by a 46-year-old Cary man, according to a news release.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 53-year-old Schaumburg woman, was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead, and the other drivers sustained minor injuries.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office is scheduling an autopsy on the driver of the Hyundai.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and MCAT.
