102 Tickets Issued In Algonquin During Traffic Campaign

The Click It Or Ticket campaign was held over the Memorial Day holiday.

ALGONQUIN, IL — The Algonquin Police Department handed out 102 traffic tickets during a stepped-up enforcement effort over the Memorial Day holiday, authorities said this past week.

Of those citations, 27 were for seatbelt violations, according to a news release from the Algonquin Police Department. Police also made two drunken driving arrests, one felony arrest and six other traffic arrests.

“Through the Memorial Day enforcement campaign, we helped make Illinois roads safer and spread the word that seat belts save lives," said Algonquin Police Department Sgt. Robert Salazar.

The Illinois “Click It or Ticket” campaign is administered by the Illinois Department of
Transportation with federal highway safety funds.
