ALGONQUIN, IL — The Algonquin Village Board will vote on a $90 million proposal to revamp the Algonquin Commons shopping center on Tuesday night.

If approved, construction could get underway this summer, with the project expected to be completed in two years, Algonquin Community Development Director Jason Shallcross told the Northwest Herald.

Red Mountain Group purchased the Algonquin Commons, a mall where several store fronts currently sit vacant, two years ago. Initially, the investment firm announced plans to put $30 million into redeveloping the site, but inflation and changes to its plans increased that price tag to $90 million, Shallcross said.

Among the proposed amenities is a 20,000-square-foot, two story-venue called "The Link," which will be home to restaurants and entertainment venues and offer a stage that can be converted for both an indoor and outdoor space, Shallcross told the Northwest Herald.
