Algonquin, LITH Among Best IL Cities For Families: Study

ALGONQUIN-LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Algonquin and Lake in the Hills have made the list of Illinois' best cities to raise a family, according to a recent study by WalletHub.

Algonquin took place No. 32, where Lake in the Hills came in No. 44. Much of the northwest suburbs made the list, which is based on a number of factors like playgrounds per capita, attractions, median family income, affordable housing, crime rates and many others.

These factors are among 21 that WalletHub researchers used to compile the data, all organized into four major dimensions: 1) family life and fun, 2) education, health and safety, 3) affordability and 4) socio-economics. The rankings included 222 of Illinois' 1,299 municipalities.

Algonquin ranked relatively low in the family life and fun category at number 184 of 222, but made high marks in the other three categories, including No. 21 in affordability and 14 in socio-economics, totaling its rank at 32.

Lake in the Hills had a bit more of a mediocre ranking across the board. No. 110 in family life and fun, and between 55 and 81 in the other three categories.
