Algonquin, LITH Haunted Yards Plan For October Openings
We've got a roundup of area haunted yards that offer free thrills for area residents.
ALGONQUIN, IL — The McHenry County area is home to some seriously scary haunted yards that residents can tour for free this Halloween season. The owners of the homes— and the masterminds behind these yards — spend thousands of dollars in props and animatronics and often work throughout the year to ensure their yards are sure to thrill.
We have a roundup below of a list of area homes that are included recognized by the Chicago Haunt Builders:
Haunt 31, 340 S. Annandale Drive in Lake in the Hills: Open Oct. 8 through Oct. 31. The display will be up and running from dusk to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday and from dusk to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The display, without animation, is open during the day. The display has extensive animations including more than 30 pneumatic props, static displays, special effects, ambiance music, and live actors. More information via Haunt31.com.

Haunted Cove at McKenzie Manor, 1 McKenzie Court in Lake in the Hills: Open Oct. 8 through Oct. 31, dusk through 10 p.m.
Halloween Town, 1821 Hartley Drive in Algonquin: Open Oct. 15 through Oct. 31 from dusk to 10:30 p.m. This year Halloween Town is celebrating 10 years of home haunting. This years display will not have all the elements of the previous years, but is still aiming to excite young and the old. More information via Halloweentownhaunt.com.

Holiday Habits, 10716 Wheatlands Way in Huntley: Open from Oct. 4 through Oct. 31. The display will be up and running from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday and from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The display will be open from 3 to 10 p.m. on Halloween. Alien Infestation, 11775 Everglades Road in Huntley: Open from Oct. 21 through Oct. 23 and Oct. 28 through Oct. 30 from dusk to 10 p.m. The display may be open later on Halloween. More via the Alien Investigation website.
Curve of C'Ville, 1623 Sacramento Drive in Carpentersville: Open from Oct. 14 through Oct. 31 from dusk to 10 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday and from dusk to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
