LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Movie-goers who frequent AMC Theaters, including the one in Lake In The Hills, will soon see a change in what they pay for the experience — all depending on where they choose to sit.

Select AMC Theaters will roll out a new pricing plan based on where patrons sit in a theater beginning on Friday. The theater chain said that selected theaters in Chicago, New York, and Kansas City will begin pricing seats based on the new location criteria on Friday, but that all AMC Theaters will be affected by the end of 2023, according to a news release issued on Monday.

The local AMC theater, Lake In The Hills 12, is located at 311 N. Randall Road.

The new pricing plan, known as Sightline at AMC, will include three tiers of pricing, the news release said. The Standard Sightline will remain the closest priced tickets to those currently being offered and include traditional seating options in most theaters, the news release said.

Value Sightline, including front-row seating and seats designated for use by the Americans With Disability Act, will price slightly lower than the standard seating, the theater announced.

Premier Sightline will include those seats in the middle of the theater and will be priced at a premier rate compared to the standard seating price, the theater announced. Patrons belonging to the AMC Stubs A-List club will be able to purchase the premier seats at no additional cost, the theater announced.

The different tiered seating will be available when customers purchase tickets online or on the AMC mobile app. The pricing will affect showtimes after 4 p.m. and will not be in place for special promotions such as the theater's $5 tickets for Tuesday movies.

“While every seat at AMC delivers an amazing moviegoing experience, we know that there are some moviegoers who prioritize their specific seat and others who prioritize value moviegoing,” Eliot Hamlisch, executive vice president, and chief marketing officer said in a statement. “Sightline at AMC accommodates both sentiments to help ensure that our guests have more control over their experience.”
