Coroner IDs Man Killed In Collision In Lake In The Hills

The collision happened at the intersection of West Algonquin Road and Harvest Gate Thursday morning.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — The McHenry County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed in a two-vehicle collision last week in Lake in the Hills as Donald Hampton, 67, Olivia Zednick, chief deputy coroner, told Patch in an email response.

The collision happened at about 6:20 a.m. Thursday when a white 2003 BMW X5 collided with a Kia Forte at the intersection of West Algonquin Road and Harvest Gate, according to a news release from the Lake in the Hills Police Department.

Both drivers were taken to area hospitals and the driver of the Kia Forte, who was identified Monday as Donald Hampton, died from injuries while at the hospital, according to officials.

The driver of the BMW was treated for injuries at the hospital.

No one else was injured, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
