ALGONQUIN, IL — As summer break winds down for many area students, it will be time for parents to start prepping for the upcoming school year.

Community Unit School District 300 students will be headed back to school in the coming weeks. Besides back to school shopping, it's time to make sure you've got the school year's most important dates pencilled into your calendar.

Here is a look at the calendar for the upcoming school year for District 300:

  • Aug: 13: First day of School, Full Day of Student Attendance
  • Sept. 2: Labor Day - Offices/Schools Closed
  • October 10: End of quarter
  • October 11: No Student Attendance
  • October 14: District Holiday - Offices/Schools Closed
  • October 25: Teacher Institute (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) - No Student Attendance
  • November 25 and 26: Parent/Teacher Conferences, No Student Attendance
  • November 27 to 29: Fall Break - Offices/schools closed
  • December 20: End of quarter/semester
  • Dec. 23 to Jan. 3 Winter Break, no student attendance
  • Dec. 24 to 27, Dec. 31 to Jan. 1: district holiday - offices/schools closed
  • January 20: Martin Luther King Day - Offices/schools closed
  • February 17: Presidents Day - offices/schools closed
  • February 28: Teacher Institute (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) Kane County ROE
  • March 14: End of quarter
  • March 31 to April 4: Spring break, no student attendance
  • April 17: Teacher Institute (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) - no student attendance
  • April 18: District holiday - offices/schools closed
  • May 22: Last day of school, if no emergency days have been used
  • May 23, 27 - 30: Emergency make-up days
  • May 26: Memorial Day - offices/schools closed
  • May 30: Last possible day of school - If all emergency make-up days
