Downed Traffic Signal On Route 62 Causes Traffic Congestion

The Algonquin Police Department is advising drivers to avoid the area of Route 62 and Main Street.

ALGONQUIN, IL — Drivers in the Algonquin area are advised to avoid Route 62/Algonquin Road at Main Street. A downed traffic signal has lead to traffic congestion in the area, according to a post on the Algonquin Police Department Facebook page.

The Western Bypass remains open and should be used as a detour around the area, authorities said.

"The signal outage has caused significant traffic backups and other issues," authorities said. It is unclear as of early Thursday afternoon when the issue would be resolved, according to information posted at about noon.
