LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — The Lake in the Hills Police Department announces the results of a recent traffic enforcement campaign they ran to help keep alcohol and drug impaired drivers off the road from June 17 through July 8, coinciding with the Independence Day holiday. During that period, 17 extra hours of patrol enforcement were conducted, resulting in officers issuing 15 citations; seven for speeding, two for distracted driving, three uninsured motorists, and three non-moving violations, according to a release from the department.

The department added that during an additional impaired driving campaign happening now through Aug. 12, they'll be focusing extra enforcement efforts while showing zero tolerance towards impaired drivers who commit drug and alcohol-related offenses.

The department also announced the results of the 4th annual Illinois Speed Awareness Day, during which officers focused on speed violations on July 24. According to the release, officers conducted over 30 traffic stops for speed limit violations during that day.
