Driver Sustains Minor Injuries After Vehicle Hits Freight Train

The collision happened in Union Thursday morning, officials said.

UNION, IL — A driver suffered minor injuries after her vehicle was hit by a train in McHenry County Thursday morning.

The Union Fire Protection District and Marengo Fire & Rescue District were called to the collision at the Seeman Road railroad crossing in Union at about 7 a.m., according to a news release from the Marengo Fire & Rescue District.

Rescue crews found the female driver out and walking around when they arrived at the scene. Her vehicle was heavily damaged, and a freight train, which collided with her vehicle, was stopped, according to the news release.

The driver was taken to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
