Eastgate Library Closes For Renovations

The library branch closed on July 29 and will remain closed through December.

The library will be at historic village hall, located at 2 S. Main Street in Algonquin on Sundays and Mondays from noon to 3 p.m. for you to pick up holds, drop off materials and enjoy a limited selection of items available for checkout.

ALGONQUIN, IL — The Eastgate branch of the Algonquin Public Library has closed for renovations. The library branch closed on July 29 and will remain closed through December of 2024.

The library will be at historic village hall, located at 2 S. Main Street in Algonquin on Sundays and Mondays from noon to 3 p.m. for you to pick up holds, drop off materials and enjoy a limited selection of items available for checkout.

To pick up your holds on these days call 847-458-6060 extension 140 to redirect your items. You can also call and request to browse specific formats or topics and village and library officials will "do their best" to accommodate the public, according to a news release from the library.

Once the renovation project is complete the library will have a larger play area for children, updated programming spaces, a larger elevator for better accessibility and a walkout patio.

During the construction process, Eastgate staff will be stationed at the main library. You can visit the Main Library at 2600 Harnish Drive in Algonquin "to see some familiar faces for all of your library needs," according to the news release.
