Elgin Man Denied Pre-Trial Release In McHenry Co. Shooting

HARVARD, IL — A 36-year-old Elgin man has been denied pre-trial release following a shooting in Harvard over the weekend.

Tyronne D. Jones, of the 300 block of Bent Street in Elgin, is accused of shooting a 39-year-old man in his right foot in the front yard of a home in the 100 block of West Brown Street in Harvard on Saturday, police said.

He is accused of trying to flee following the shooting but officers were able to apprehend him and take him into custody, according to a news release from the Harvard Police Department.

Jones has since been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, resisting a peace officer, criminal trespass to a residence and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

In a court appearance this past week, a McHenry County judge denied pre-trial release for Jones, according to court documents provided to Patch. He remains in custody at the McHenry County jail.

He is next expected in court for a status hearing and to set a trial date on Thursday.
