The "Firefly Fireworks" program will be held in July at Hampshire Forest Preserve and Campton Forest Preserve.

Submission by the Kane County Forest Preserve District

Ever wondered how a glow worm glows, or why a lightning bug lights, or if a firefly light is hot to the touch?

Learn the answers and more as you explore the fascinating world of brilliant bugs during the Forest Preserve District of Kane County’s “Firefly Fireworks” program. Lightning bugs and glow worms are not only beautiful when lit up, but they’re also an important part of the prairie ecosystem. The walk will start at dusk.
