Funeral Set For Algonquin Woman Who Drowned In Fox River

Kimberly Koerner, a married mother of two children, died earlier this week. Her body was found in the Fox River in Carpentersville.

ALGONQUIN, IL — Funeral services have been set for the 52-year-old Algonquin woman who was initially reported missing Sunday and whose body was recovered the following day in the Fox River.

A visitation for Kimberly L. Koerner will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Willow Funeral Home, 1415 W. Algonquin Road, Algonquin. A funeral Mass will be held starting at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. 111 S. Hubbard St., Algonquin.

Family members reported Koerner missing Sunday after she was last seen walking away from a Jewel-Osco store at 1501 E. Algonquin Road in Algonquin at about 9 a.m. On Monday, the Carpentersville Police Department responded to the area of Bolz Road and Williams Road at about 8:40 a.m after receiving information about a body in the river.

The body was removed from the river at about 8:50 a.m. Monday, and positively identified as Koerner on Monday afternoon. According to the coroner's office, there were no visible or overt signs of foul play, and an autopsy will be competed Wednesday.

According to the Lake & McHenry Scanner, the Kane County Coroner's Office performed an autopsy Wednesday and determined the preliminary cause of death was drowning.
