HUNTLEY, IL — A local ice cream shop that is beloved by many in the area will soon be reopening under new ownership.

Bill and Amy Dunn have bought the Huntley Dairy Mart, 10706 N. IL-47 in Huntley, from former owners, Christopher S. Hopp, 38, and his wife, Corinne E. Breskovich, 42, Shaw Media is reporting. Hopp and Breskovich face criminal charges, and Hopp has been deemed a "threat" to minor children based on the child pornography charges filed against him.

Dunn said he's hoping to open the Dairy Mart this Wednesday, according to the Shaw Media article. Bill Dunn, 51, has spent most of his life working in the mortgage business and is looking forward to the new challenge of owning a restaurant.

"It is like a new lease on life for me. I am so excited, and this is something I love. I love to cook. I like to mingle. I am a very social person," Bill Dunn said. "I am excited for the challenge."

The couple plans to keep much of the same menu and food and ice cream treats and it appears a former Dairy Mart manager, cook and former employees are on track to be hired back, according to the article.

The future of the Dairy Mart became uncertain after criminal charges were filed against Breskovich and Hopp earlier this year.

Hopp, 38, faces the following charges: two counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of production of child pornography, two counts of unauthorized video recording, possession with intent to deliver psilocybin, unlawful possession of psilocybin, four counts of possession of a firearm with a revoked FOID, possession of ammunition without a FOID and two counts of child endangerment.

Hopp is accused of secretly recording at least two videos of a teen girl while she was naked, either in her bedroom or in the bathroom. Court documents show the girl did not know she was being recorded while she was changing her clothes.

A McHenry County judge ordered Hopp not be allowed to be around children as a condition of his bail after prosecutors argued that him owning the Dairy Mart meant he could be around teenage girls, who worked at the establishment, and other children who frequented the ice cream shop.

Corinne E. Breskovich, 42, of Crystal Lake, faces charges of two counts of child endangerment, four counts of possession of a firearm without a FOID, possession of ammunition without a FOID, possession with intent to deliver psilocybin and unlawful possession of psilocybin.

Prosecutors said that Hopp was growing psilocybin mushrooms in the basement of his house and also had guns accessible to minor children, ages 6 and 16, living in the home.

According to the criminal complaint, Hopp was in possession of psilocybin mushrooms and psilocybin mushroom seeds, totaling 236 grams. All the mushrooms and seeds were recovered after police executed a search warrant on the couple’s Crystal Lake home.

Police also recovered a scale, numerous mason jars, and approximately $2,000 in cash near the psilocybin products. They also found Breskovich and Hopp in possession of a Taurus PT22 pistol, a Remington 12-gauge shotgun, a Remington 22 long rifle, and a Ruger 357 magnum, according to the criminal complaint. Ammunition for the firearms was also recovered.

Both Hopp and Breskovich are free on bail. Breskovich is scheduled to appear in court on May 4 for a status hearing, and Hopp is set to appear for a status hearing on May 23.
