Illinois Sets Record for Wettest June

So far, 8.91 inches of rain has fallen. And we've still got two more days of storms to go.

The wettest June on record was set back in 1902, when 8.27 inches of rain fell across Illinois. That is, until this weekend’s rainfall.

So far, 8.91 inches of measured rain has fallen in June, breaking that century-old record, according to state climatologist Jim Angel. He posted this information to his blog:

  • 2015 with 8.91 inches (as of 6/27)
  • 1902 with 8.27 inches
  • 2010 with 7.71 inches
  • 1998 with 7.64 inches
  • 2000 with 7.34 inches

Rainfall records date back to 1895, according to Angel.
