Local High School Dancers Compete For State Title

The IHSA state dance competition will be held this weekend.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL -- Suburban high school dance teams will be headed to state this weekend, and several local dancers will be among the elite group competing for a state title. Crystal Lake Central, Cary-Grove High School and Huntley High School all earned trips to state following last weekend's sectional competition in Huntley. Crystal Lake Central dancers placed second in the Class 2A division, behind Lake Zurich, and Cary-Grove placed sixth.

Huntley High placed third in the Class 3A division. The top six dance teams at the sectional meet on Jan. 19 advanced to the state competition, which gets underway on Friday, Jan. 25, at Grossinger Motor Arena in Bloomington.

The prelims will be held on Friday and finals will be Saturday. Live streaming will be available on the NFHS Network.
