MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Work is underway to resurface three stretches of county highway. The projects are part of the McHenry County Division of Transportation’s annual paving program to maintain the quality of its more than 550 lane miles by milling existing surfaces, laying new asphalt and shoulder stone and emplacing new pavement markings, according to a news release.

Work got started recently with the milling of Deep Cut/Nelson Road between U.S Route 14 and Charles and Alden roads in Hartland Township. Paving will follow after milling is completed. County officials have also hired road crews to repave Deerpass Road northeast of Marengo from River Road to Route 176 to go along with the newly rebuilt bridge over the Kishwaukee River, and will repave Greenwood Road between Route 173 and the intersection of Charles Road and Illinois Route 120, according to a county news release.

Work should be completed by mid-August, weather permitting.

Motorists should be prepared for lane closures and delays while work is in progress and should watch out for workers in work zones, obey work-zone speed limits, and never text and drive, county officials said.
