Both Peter and Elvira Almen are being remembered as being happy people. Leslie McNutt, a manager and vet tech at Algonquin Animal Clinic, told the Northwest Herald the couple would bring their pets to her clinic and Elvira was always smiling and taking the time to chat with staff members about their lives.

"We loved her," McNutt said. "She was just a wonderful, wonderful woman. She was that kind of person that you just fell in love with."
