Missing Algonquin Woman Died As A Result Of Drowning: Autopsy
The 52-year-old woman who went missing in Algonquin was found in the Fox River on Monday.
The coroner says that the 52-year-old woman who went missing in Algonquin and was found in the Fox River on Monday is believed to have died as a result of drowning.
The Kane County Coroner’s Office said they were called around 8:50 a.m. Monday to the area of Bolz Road and Williams Road in Carpentersville.

The Carpentersville police and fire departments, East Dundee Fire Department, Kane County Sheriff’s Office, Kane County Forest Preserve Police and Algonquin Police Department were on the scene already.
The agencies had responded after receiving a report of a human body in the water on the Fox River.

The body was recovered and transported to the Kane County Coroner’s Office.
The coroner’s office said they were able to positively identify the person as Kimberly L. Koerner, 52, of Algonquin.
The Algonquin Police Department announced Sunday afternoon they were seeking assistance in locating Koerner.
Algonquin Police Department Detective Sergeant Robert Salazar said Koerner was last seen around 9 a.m. Sunday.
The woman was walking away from the Jewel-Osco, located at 1501 East Algonquin Road in Algonquin, Salazar said.
Friends said Koerner left her purse and other items in her vehicle at the Jewel.
Koerner was last seen wearing a white winter jacket with fur and black pajama bottom pants. She was also wearing flip-flops.
A resident on Greenridge Avenue in Algonquin spotted the woman on surveillance walking down the street around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
Search and rescue canine teams were sent to the Algonquin area Sunday evening and a command post was set up at the Jewel-Osco in Algonquin.
Drones were also used in the search. Police said they recovered Ring doorbell images showing Koerner walking alone in a neighborhood immediately to the south and west of the Jewel.
Algonquin Deputy Police Chief Dennis Walker said foul play is not suspected but the investigation remains ongoing.
“Our thoughts and sympathies are with her family and friends. We ask that everyone respect the privacy of her family,” the police department said.
The coroner’s office said an autopsy was performed Wednesday and the preliminary cause of death was drowning.
The manner of death is still undetermined while toxicology test results are pending.
“There are no visible or signs of foul play. The Kane County Coroner’s Office is cooperating with the Algonquin Police Department in the further investigation of this incident,” the coroner’s office said.
