Pedestrian Killed While Crossing Road in Algonquin

The collision, which occurred Friday evening at the intersection of Stonegate and County Line roads, remains under investigation.

ALGONQUIN, IL — A pedestrian hit by a vehicle while crossing County Line Road in Algonquin Friday evening has died. The female was crossing the roadway at the intersection of Stonegate Road at about 7:18 p.m. when she was hit by a vehicle heading west on County Line Road, according to a news release from the Algonquin Police Department. The pedestrian was first taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in critical condition and then flown to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital where she later died.

The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old man, showed no signs of impairment and was not injured in the collision. He was issued a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The eastbound and westbound lanes of County Line Road and northbound and southbound Stonegate Road were closed for several hours Friday as authorities investigated the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by the Algonquin Police Department, Kane
County Accident Reconstruction Team and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
