LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — A popular food truck business is expanding its operations.

Stix and Noodles, which serves up Asian and Filipino food, plans to open a carry-out restaurant on Crystal Lake Road in Lake in the Hills.

The Lake in the Hills Village Board last month approved an ordinance granting a variation and conditional use permit for the Stix and Noodle Restaurant at 1201 Crystal Lake Road. The vacant commercial building where the restaurant will be located was previously used as a Guaranteed Appliance Parts and Service repair shop, according to village documents.

Maria Calara, owner of Stix and Noodles, said she plans to convert the existing building into a carry-out restaurant, and also plans to store her food truck on the property, according to village documents.

Currently, there is only room for seven parking spaces and zoning requirements for the property require 10 spaces, according to village documents. The village board approved a variation to allow for the fewer parking spaces at the property.

The outdoor storage of the food truck is only allowed in the B-2 zoning district, where the restaurant will be located, with the approval of a conditional use. The village board also approved that permit at a July 27 meeting.
