Teen Taken Into Custody At Jacobs HS Over Social Media Threat: Cops

The 14-year-old is accused of displaying a weapon on social media, police said.

ALGONQUIN, IL — A 14-year-old boy was arrested for allegations he displayed a weapon on social media.

The boy was taken into police custody at Jacobs High School at about 10:15 a.m. on Monday, according to a news release from the Algonquin Police Department. Police said rumors regarding the teen being armed while at school were not substantiated and there was no known danger to the high school community.

The Algonquin Police Department is continuing to investigate the claims.
