MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Animal Control will host “Whisker Wonderland” adoption events on Wednesday, December 15, and Saturday, December 18, as a way to help connect potential adopters with cats and kittens that are ready to meet their forever-family this holiday season.

The MCAC has young kittens that will not be old enough to adopt until these events, according to a news release. Potential adopters who schedule an appointment will have the first chance to meet newly adoptable kittens, as well as meet all available adult cats.

In addition, adult cats will have reduced adoption fees, up to 50 percent off, according to the news release.

All adoptable cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, given flea and tick control treatment, given age-appropriate vaccinations, and FIV/FeLV tested. Young kittens that have not been spayed/neutered or vaccinated will be able to return to the shelter later for free spay/neuter and vaccination, according to a news release.

During the Whisker Wonderland events, MCAC staff will be available to help match adopters with the right pet for them and answer questions about cat care or pet ownership. All adopters will leave with a goodie bag to help them get started caring for their new furry friends.

“Our staff wants you to find the right fit so you can build plenty of amazing memories with a new member of the family. Pets bring joy and love into peoples’ lives, and people can bring that same sense of joy to an animal,” said Maryellen Howell, director of McHenry County Animal Control.
