Winter Weather Advisory Issued For McHenry County

Between 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible, and wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph are also in the forecast.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A winter weather advisory has been issued for McHenry County Wednesday morning.

Snow is expected to hit portions of northern Illinois after 1 a.m. and could continue through noon. The National Weather Service if forecasting between one to three inches of snow accumulation and wind gusts between 30 to 40 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

The mix of snow and high wind gusts could make for hazardous travel conditions. Drivers should plan on areas of slick travel on untreated and elevated road surfaces along with periods of reduced visibilities on the roadways, according to the National Weather Service.

Drivers are urged to slow down while traveling Wednesday and allow for additional travel time.

Other counties under the winter weather advisory include: Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, Lee and DeKalb counties.
