4K Lose Power From Storm In Mount Prospect Area: ComEd

A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for the area Monday afternoon and early evening, according to the National Weather Service.

At 1:30 p.m. Monday, 3,299 customers in Mount Prospect (21 outages) and 1,029 customers in Arlington Heights (26 outages) were without power, according to a ComEd outage map​.

MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — More than 4,000 customers in the Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights area were without power Monday afternoon as severe thunderstorms hit Chicagoland. At 1:30 p.m., 3,299 customers in Mount Prospect (21 outages) and 1,029 customers in Arlington Heights (26 outages) were without power, according to a ComEd outage map. Most power had been restored by Monday evening.

In a warning sent out at 12:30 p.m., the National Weather Service said wind gusts up to 60 mph and pea-sized hail were possible in Arlington Heights.

Severe storm warnings were in place for Cook, DuPage and Lake Counties until 1 p.m., and Grundy, Kendall and La Salle counties until 1:15 p.m. That includes Chicago, Cicero, Arlington Heights, Evanston, Palatine, Skokie, Des Plaines, Berwyn, Mount Prospect, Oak Park, Glenview, Elmhurst, Lombard, Buffalo Grove, O'Hare Airport, Wheeling, Park Ridge, Addison, Northbrook and Elk Grove Village.

Tornadoes were also possible, as well as hail and 60 mph winds, NWS said.

A severe thunderstorm watch remained in effect until 4 p.m. Monday for Boone, Bureau, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, La Salle, Lee, Livingston, McHenry and Will counties.
