ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Six families were displaced, and a fire at a three-story complex remains under investigation. The fire occurred Aug. 9 in the 2100 block of Crambourne Way. No firefighters were injured during the blaze.

At around 9 p.m., Arlington Heights firefighters were called for a structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters saw heavy fire coming from the attached garage and extending vertically and horizontally toward the living areas of multiple units in a three-story townhome complex. The incident was immediately upgraded to a first level box alarm.

Initially, fire companies deployed a vehicle mounted deck gun and applied tank water to knock down the main body of the fire in the garage. Hose lines were stretched into the living areas of the fire unit and adjacent units to search for fire extension. Crews performed searches for residents and found that everyone had escaped safety due to the presence of working smoke alarms.
