HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — As work continues on a new interstate along the west side of O'Hare International Airport, a local asphalt contractor has been awarded a $9.2 million contract from the Illinois Tollway board of directors. The board announced last week it had approved five contracts at its latest meeting, including one for Plote Construction Inc., which will work on the reconstruction of York Road as part of the I-490 Tollway Project between Gateway Road and Devon Avenue.

"This month's contracts will allow us to continue progress on work to deliver the new I-490 Tollway as well as continue to maintain our existing infrastructure including bridges systemwide," said Cassaundra Rouse, Illinois Tollway executive director. "By adhering to a robust bridge inspection and monitoring program and then performing preventative maintenance when needed, we can prolong the life of Tollway bridges, which maximizes the return on our investment."

According to Illinois Tollway, the new, full-access interchange will connect the I-490 Tollway to the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) in Des Plaines.
