ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Character, skill as an official, and levels worked in the Illinois High School Association State Series are all factors considered when selecting Officials of the Year. Referee Kenneth Pink, of Arlington Heights, was chosen by the organization for the honor in girls basketball for the 2023-2024 season.

In all, officials representing 21 sports were voted for the honor.

According to the IHSA, an official must first be nominated by an officials organization recognized by IHSA or an IHSA administrator. From there, IHSA staff choose the winners.

"Participation in high school sports provides countless benefits, however, those opportunities would not exist without the hard-working men and women who choose the officiating avocation," IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson said. "It is an honor to be able to celebrate these 21 outstanding individuals who are so respected among their officiating peers, while also recognizing that IHSA sports continue due to the collaborative efforts of every IHSA official. We thank them all."

This year's winners will be recognized at the 2024 IHSA Officials Conference, being held from July 12 to July 13 in Normal.
