ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Despite "non-stop snowplowing" since a winter storm began at 5 a.m. Friday, Arlington Heights officials said residents are encouraged to avoid driving unless absolutely necessary, as the fast accumulation continues to affect roads.

"At this rate, we will maintain an all-hands-on-deck approach, with [snowplowing] crews working nearly 16-hour shifts," the Village said in the update, posted on social media. "Despite our non-stop efforts, residents can expect that the excessive snowfall will continue to impact streets."

"Groot is anticipating at this time that a pick-up will occur on Saturday, however this is subject to unfolding weather conditions," the Village said.
