Arlington Heights Man Killed Attempting To Cross Highway: Sheriff

The Tuesday night crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.

UNINCORPORATED WAUCONDA, IL — A 39-year-old Arlington Heights man died Tuesday night from injuries he sustained after being hit by a car in unincorporated Wauconda.

An autopsy of the man is scheduled for the Lake County Coroner's Office. The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.

According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded at 9 p.m. to Route 12 and Old Rand Road for a reported car versus pedestrian traffic crash. The Arlington Heights man was critically wounded without a pulse. After a police officer performed CPR on the man, he regained a pulse, and was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital. He would later be pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation shows that a Toyota Camry, driven by a 68-year-old McHenry man, was traveling northbound on Route 12. As he was traveling northbound, the pedestrian attempted to cross Route 12 on foot for an unknown reason. The driver of the Toyota didn't see the man, and struck him as he drove northbound. The driver of the Toyota was uninjured.
