Three-term Village Trustee Jim Tinaglia has announced his candidacy for Mayor of Arlington Heights. A more than 50-year resident, dedicated community volunteer and local business owner for three decades, Jim is confident he is uniquely positioned to step into this vital role to lead Arlington Heights into the future to even greater achievements.

“Arlington Heights has become, and should always remain, a wonderful place to live, work, play and celebrate strong family values,” Tinaglia said. “Invested residents and business owners deserve leaders who have historical insight, understand the community’s principles, and are dedicated to protecting and guiding our future. I have always been, and remain fully committed, to these critical perspectives and important pillars of leadership.”

Jim’s Arlington Heights roots run deep. He attended District 25 and District 214 schools, and along with his wife Cindy, raised their four, now adult children, one of which is a teacher at Olive-Mary Stitt Elementary School in Arlington Heights. He was heavily involved in coaching and volunteering for youth athletics when his children were young, where he and his family established strong community connections and a deep appreciation for the many amenities the community offers for residents.

As the first and only architect to serve on the Village Board, and as the next Arlington Heights Mayor, Jim will tap into his professional abilities to think globally and combine creative solutions with engineered reality. He believes in smart growth, while always protecting the unique character that makes Arlington Heights a highly desirable place for both residents and visitors.

“My unwavering belief in the potential and many values of Arlington Heights underscores my commitment to protecting our heritage while fostering thoughtful new development, including any opportunities at the former Arlington Park property,” Tinaglia said. “I’ve been honored to contribute to the Village’s purposeful and historic growth for nearly 25 years and will ensure, as Mayor, that any proposed development is an asset and only adds to the value of our great community.”

Founder of an Arlington Heights-based architecture firm established in 1991, Jim is honored to have been deeply involved in the design of many high-profile buildings and businesses in Arlington Heights, as well as throughout Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.

With a proven record that reflects his belief in Arlington Heights' excellence, Jim vows to be a true asset that guides the community towards an even brighter tomorrow. With a heartfelt connection to Arlington Heights' past, present, and future, Jim is ready to go to work as Mayor of Arlington Heights.
