Burglars Cut Hole In Wall, Steal $1M In Jewelry From Mall Store: Police

SCHAUMBURG, IL — A group of burglars stole more than $1 million in jewelry from a store at Woodfield Mall after they broke in by cutting a hole in the drywall, according to police.

The thieves entered Marquise Jewelers through a vacant neighboring unit overnight Thursday into Friday, and a construction worker discovered the damage around 9:30 the next morning, police said.

The burglars covered a surveillance camera, according to police, who believe at least six people may have been involved. The investigation is ongoing.
