ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Lenten season is underway, which is annually a popular time to frequent restaurants offering fried fish on the menu. In addition, many civic groups hold fish fry events throughout February and March. Lent began on Feb. 14 and runs through March 28.

During Lent, Christians typically don't eat meat on Fridays as part of the practice of repentance. Whether you celebrate the holiday, or just want to try some delicious fish, we've got you covered with our list of spots in and near Arlington Heights.

From 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. March 1, March 8, March 15 and March 22, at the KC Hall. Fish dinner menu includes: deep-fried cod, baked cod, tater rounds, coleslaw, mostaccoli with marinara sauce, garden salad, cornbread, French bread and complimentary coffee or tea. Full cash bar, including free refills on soda. Cost is adults $16, children 5-12 $8, under 5 free and carryout is $15.

Dine-in our take-out is available every day at Eddie's. The fish fry, served with a choice of potato and garlic bread, is all-you-can-eat for $14 on Fridays.

Peggy Kinnane's Irish Restaurant & Pub

8 N Vail Ave., Arlington Heights

Kinnane's Famous Fish N' Chips ($21.95), according to the menu, features a fresh heaping of Alaskan cod fillets dipped in the restaurant's special recipe Guinness beer batter, served traditionally with Irish "chips," Killarney sauce and coleslaw. Additionally, during Lent, the restaurant is offering a pepper and egg sandwich, blackened salmon sandwich and cod sandwich.

Friday North Woods Fish Fry (special of the month - $16) features beer battered center loin cod with potato pancake, homemade coleslaw, apple sauce and tartar sauce.

4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Fish Fry on Fridays returns Feb. 24. The cost is $18, includes beer battered fresh cod on a bed of steak fries, coleslaw, tartar sauce. Baked cod also available.

The fish fry returns Friday, Feb. 23. The fish fry ($13) features beer-battered Atlantic cod served with coleslaw & choice of a side. Fish sandwich also available. Dine in the heated patio, carry-out or delivery.

The all-you-can-eat Friday night fish fry ($19.50) features hand battered and lightly breaded fish fry dinners are deep-fried, crisp and delicious, according to the restaurant's menu. Dinners are served with homemade coleslaw, a dinner roll, mixed savory veggies and roasted and seasoned red potatoes. The plate is garnished with delicious tartar sauce and a lemon wedge.

The fish & chips ($19.25) dish features beer-battered cod served with a tequila lime cocktail and lemon dill tartar sauces. Served with housemade chips or hand-cut fries .

An old tavern favorite, beer-battered cod ($14.50) fried to golden perfection, served with coleslaw and a generous portion of fries. All-you-can-eat on Friday nights.
